The studio0

Posted In Events

Last week was quite productive. We got the bed tracks down and comfy for our second song for the album “Thursday” -  a drivin’ rocker named “Plan D”. Rich nailed it in two takes with only a couple of punch in/outs to satisfy his and our collective attention to detail.  Right now at this very moment Rich, Bob, and Pat are doing the in-studio “GO VIC GO!” SEMPRE FI thang, as he cranks down the bass part for “Plan D” and it’s sounding much more like when we are all playing in top form at the same time! You know sometimes you work on a tune, and no matter what you do, it just doesn’t quite get there? Well, thankfully, we haven’t had that moment yet while working on THURSDAY. Yep, that’s the tentative title of our album. Cool title? Crappy title? So……what do all of you out there on the Internets think? Hahahahahaha we are all laughing here right now in the studio, because – and don’t take this the wrong for we really do dig everyones feedback – but at the “end of the day”, we just aren’t going to care what “you” – that big collective “you” – thinks.  And that’s the real beauty of this project for each of us in c14!. The collective that is Carbon 14 – Vic, Pat, Rich, and Bob – trust each other in a way that only comes from knowing each other for more years than any of us want to admit.  Check THIS out: Bob and Rich were playing together, just Piano and Drums, “in the pit” at their High School for Plays and functions back in….wait for it…..wait for it…….. WHEN!?!?!!…. really??……ARE YOU SURE???…yep, for these two it started the fall of 1972.  Pat just made a gesture as to what HE was doing in the fall of 1972:) Hahaha, moving on! And Vic says that the fall of 1972 was his heavy “Neil Young” phase and period where “I learned every single thing that Neil Young did!” and “I was playing with a two-guitar three person three part harmony kind of thing..and yeah, we were doing our fair share of what Pat just gestured, too..”.

Next week is going to be a Big c14 week and the mood in the Studio right now is Electrified talking about ideas, what to do next, and from the sound of things may include a mid-tempo effort the boys are excited about and tossing ideas around as this is being typed. Stay tuned! And, we PROMISE some MP3 stuffffff very very soon! Here’s to an “early Thursday” next week that could turn into a Friday!! And guess what..who knows what THAT means? Yes Sir and Ma’am. That means: Rabbit Rabbit!!

and Pat, Vic, Rich, and Bob thank you for passing the word to your Facebook friends!
This update is coming to you FROM the Stu-Stu-Studio, where tonight we’ve heard “Puppet Show”, “Riccollaaaaa.. Ricollaaaaaaaaaaa!!” “all of George Carlin’s seven dirty words” and then some…Vic played bass thankfully not completely naked this week..for it is a bit chilly still though that almost silent Monitor Heater can really crank out the heat when the bare skin in the Stu-Stu-Studio needs it most! We’ve heard tunes by “Secret Machines” and “Against Me” and some fav “It Bites” along with some CLASSICS that the boys were all giving Bob grief about playing as he filled-in and jammed with the very very talented men of RFactor13 at T&B’s in Waterville last Saturday night. Bob says he had a great time while trying to fill the HUGE shoes of Neil Avcollie..original keyboardist in the 80’s local phenom band BUFFALO CHIP TEA and the current keyboardist for LITTLE BUFFALO… and they really are huge shoes to fill, Bob says.. and not because a lot of the RFactor13 tunes are far from just “3chorders”.. no, really.. Bob says “Neil wears somewhere around size 11 footwear..and we all know what THAT means!” and in all seriousness Bob says thanks to Neil and the men of RFactor13 for some great fun last weekend. :) There is a “Shazam-Free” name-that-tune going on..Bob just guessed “THE WHO” when it was Pete Townsend song “Rough Boys”..FAIL! Not “Epic Fail” however fail, non-the-less. Porno For Pyros..hmmm, yes, a definite Jane’s Addition kinda feel..makes sense..oh, and now banjo intro to the killer bass riffs of PRIMUS..next tune: “Photograph” by Ringo Star followed by “Give Me Shelter” which might be some of the best rock music EVVAA.. next is, who? Oh yeah, SEMISONIC with Closing Time..that piano riff that never ends as Pat says..thankfully that’s in HIS head..followed by Stevie Nicks and Wishing Well by Terrance Trent Darby..he Donna Langon Stearns remember singing THAT one back in the day?? And we must end the night with the theme from Sanford and Son..hehe. Vic will be listening to Diatribes and Bob says: PINK! compilation..time to run! ~Peace from the c14 Stu-Stu-Studio this 24th day of March.
